Maine — Maine State Credit Union is proud to announce a record-breaking year for its annual Feed ME 5K, raising $90,306.84 to support local food banks and pantries across Maine as part of the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.
Now in its 21st year, the Feed ME 5K has grown from a small community fundraiser that raised approximately $10,000 in its first year into a community-wide effort to combat food insecurity. Its continued growth reflects the collective commitment of members, businesses, and community partners working together to make a difference.
The Feed ME 5K is one of many initiatives that contribute to the Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger, a statewide effort uniting credit unions to address hunger in Maine. Since its inception in 1990, the Campaign has raised millions of dollars to support hunger relief efforts, with 100% of funds staying in Maine and going directly to organizations such as local food pantries, meal sites, schools, and food banks.
Fundraising for this year’s event took place from late January through the end of May, with support generated through personal donations, individual and team fundraising, contributions from hunger organizations, and business sponsorships. The funds raised through Maine State Credit Union’s efforts will be distributed in early 2027 through the Campaign to directly support local food banks and pantries serving communities across the state.
The 2026 walk, held on Saturday, April 25, brought together nearly 200 walkers, along with approximately 40 staff volunteers. Participants also included representatives from nearly 30 community hunger organizations, highlighting the strong collaboration and shared mission behind the event.
As food insecurity continues to impact individuals and families across Maine, initiatives like the Feed ME 5K play a vital role in providing meaningful, local support. The funds raised will help ensure that organizations on the front lines have the resources they need to provide meals and assistance to those who need it most.
Maine State Credit Union extends its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed, participated, and supported this year’s Feed ME 5K. The continued success of the event is a testament to the power of community and the shared belief in people helping people.
