Jeanne Moreau

AVP, Branch Manager, Waterville

May's Employee Spotlight is Jeanne Moreau, a Waterville native who is our Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager of our Waterville Branch.

Tell us about yourself?

“I was born and raised in Waterville Maine and am one of six children. I have lived in Oakland Maine since the 1980s when my husband Jay and his father built our house. They also recently built my daughter Whitney’s house, which is right next door to us. We also have a black lab named Libby and a grey cat named Fuzzy. We are huge Boston sports fans, and cheer for them whenever they’re on. I was a die-hard Bobby Orr [Boston Bruins] fan growing up.”

What has your career looked like at MSCU?

“My Dad was a founding father of St. Francis Credit Union and I went to work for them in 1984 as a Teller.  St. Francis became Greater Waterville Area FCU, which merged with Maine State Credit Union in 2006. Besides being a teller, I’ve also been a bookkeeper, a loan officer, a manager, and currently the Assistant Vice President, Branch Manager of the Waterville Branch. All in all, I’ve been with the credit union for almost 36 years!”

Why do you like working at MSCU?

“It’s the people… both the members and the staff. We have a culture here that allows us to build relationships with each other and our members. MSCU also gives employees a lot of room to bring fun to the workplace, laugh together, keep things light, and allows us to enjoy each other's company. It’s a great benefit and truly why I like being here.”

What does MSCU bring to Waterville?

“We have a small-town atmosphere here at the Waterville Branch and our staff has gotten to know our members very well! In a lot of ways, it’s like a family. We know their names, they know ours, and they feel very comfortable and safe with us. They trust and confide in us, knowing we have their best financial interests at heart.”

What are some things MSCU does to make our members' lives easier?

We listen! We listen and we take every request to heart. Some people want fancy cars, others just want a new pair of glasses or a new fridge. We try to meet all those needs as best we can and take the stress out of it for them.

What do you enjoy outside of work?

I enjoy going for walks and try to walk at least 4 miles every day.  I also like to take trips and have gone on several cruises. My favorite trip was to Alaska, which was part cruise and part land tour. The scenery there is gorgeous.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like making stained glass and have taught my husband how to do them as well. We have several pieces hanging in our house.  I also love to read, especially books by John Grisham.

Who is your favorite musical artist?

I love James Taylor. Growing up, my older sister had his albums when she was a teenager and I would often listen to them on my record player. I’ve seen him in concert several times. Last time I saw him he was coming off the stage and I practically pushed my daughter down the stairs to the front to meet him. She was wearing my old 1983 James Taylor T-Shirt and he signed it.
