Maine State Credit Union will donate $25 to a local charity for each vehicle loan opened in 2023.

At Maine State CU, we are committed to helping our local communities flourish and are always looking for ways to make a difference. This is done through volunteer work, financial education, and giving back. This year, we will donate a portion of our vehicle loan proceeds to various charities across our membership area. The organizations selected help families, children, and animals.

  FAQs

What is the Drive for Good program?

Drive for Good is a way for MSCU to help local non-profit organizations. Through this program, with every direct vehicle loan, we will make a $25 donation to the selected organization in the member’s name.

How do the members select a charitable organization?

We have pre-selected three organizations in each of the counties that we serve. We are focusing on animals, kids, and hunger. The option to select the organization will be part of the final signing of the loan documents.

What if the member does not want to support an organization listed?

If a member does not want to support one of the organizations listed, the $25 will go to the MSCU Ending Hunger Campaign.

How did the organizations get selected?

We select the organization based on how it aligns with the mission and the values of Maine State Credit Union.

Can this be combined with other programs?

No, this program is only for new direct vehicle loans with us. If a member refinances an existing loan, they are eligible for up to $500 for the re-finance program. Indirect loans are excluded.

Is there a limit to the amount of money donated through this program?

In 2023, we plan to donate a combined total of $20,000 to these organizations.

Each time a member is approved for a direct vehicle loan, they will be given the option to donate to a local charity. If a charity is not selected, the donation will be given to the Maine State Credit Union’s Annual Ending Hunger Campaign.
