Welcome to Maine State Credit Union!

Maine State Credit Union, is Kennebec County's and Somerset County's new option for financial services.  Membership at Maine State CU is now open to anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Kennebec County or Somerset County. 

Maine State CU was created in 1935 to provide friendly and affordable financial services to State employees and their families. Since that time our state-chartered, federally-insured credit union has grown steadily and thoughtfully to keep pace with the needs of its members. In 2004, Maine State CU was granted a community charter for Kennebec County, making anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Kennebec County eligible for membership. In 2006, Greater Waterville Area Federal Credit Union merged with Maine State Credit Union to become the Greater Waterville Area Branch of Maine State Credit Union, which also expanded our field of membership to include Somerset County.

Today we serve over 25,000 members statewide, with a range of valuable services that include savings accounts, checking accounts, ATM cards, personal loans, auto loans, mortgages, credit cards, debit cards, shared branching, and share certificates among others.

Membership Eligibility

The following people are eligible to join Maine State CU:

• Anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Kennebec County or Somerset County
• Maine State Employees
• Employees of the Maine State Employees' Association
• Cumberland County Employees'
• Maine Housing Authority Employees
• Members of the Maine Association of Retirees
• Employees of the Maine Technical College System
• Maine State Retirement System Employees
• Retirees of groups listed above, any individual who is receiving a Maine State retirement pension, and their immediate family* or household members**.

* Immediate Family Member - Spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild. This includes stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings and adoptive relationships.

**Household Member - Persons living in the same residence maintaining a single economic unit.
